Meet Dexter McDougald, Veteran Insurance Broker
Dexter McDougald offers over 35 years of experience in the insurance industry. He began his career in 1991 with Metropolitan Life shortly after graduating from college.
However, he quickly realized that it was the insurance brokers who were outperforming him. They were able to find the company and the product that best fit the clients' needs. So after one year of being a captive agent, only doing business with Met Life, he decided that being an insurance broker was the best path for his success.
As a broker, and being licensed to appoint with every insurance company, his loyalty shifted from the insurance companies and focused solely on his clients' needs. Discernment is the key to see through the hype and the bias surrounding an insurance product. Only what the insurance product truly delivers for his clients is paramount.
Community Service
Dexter has always believed in community service. He has volunteered in Houston Schools since 1995.
Past community activities include:
- Lifetime Board Member of the James Madison High School Alumni Association
- Served on Madison High School's Site Decision-Making Committee (SDMC) meeting at 7am for 5 years
- Helped raise tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships for deserving students
- Participated in Career Days speaking and bringing other role models into the schools
- Chairman of the 1st Annual James Madison High School Spring Expo & Festival
- Nominated as an Honorary Seaman by the James Madison High School Jr. Naval ROTC
- Serving on the James Madison Rebuild Committee that made decisions on every aspect of rebuilding the school.
Personal Background
Born in Florida, Dexter's family moved to Houston, Texas in 1969. Raised on Christian values, he attended James Madison High School, where he graduated with honors. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management in 1991 from Texas Southern University. He is a follower of Jesus Christ and an avid bible reader. Dexter enjoys spending time with family and close friends. Learning has always been a passion of his. Whether it's self-improvement, studying the bible or learning more about how to better serve his clients, learning has always been of utmost importance to him.

From Center Court to Centering Your Finances
Drafted 21st overall of the first round of the 1983 NBA Draft, Greg played 12 seasons in the league, including four NBA Finals appearances with the Boston Celtics and two championship wins (1984 and 1986). He went on to play for the Clippers, Hornets, Kings, Magic, Knicks and Pacers during his 12-year NBA career.
Family, Faith, and Giving Back
Greg and his wife Jenny founded Pathways Private School and the Gift of Learning Foundation, a nonprofit educational program that has served thousands of children and their families since 1996 in Orlando, Florida. He continues to serve on the board and is active in the school’s mission of transformative learning.
Greg is also a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and has served in leadership and ministry roles throughout his life. A proud father of 10 and grandfather to 21, he sees wealth as a tool for building legacies that serve others.
